    How To Choose Your Garage Door Torsion Spring

    1. Wire Gauge (Color Coded) - measure across 20 coils in inches, see the table on the right for your reference.

    2. Length of Spring (Coil to Coil) - Use a tape measure to measure the length of the spring from one end to the other when it is unwound exclusing the cones.

    3. Left & Right Wound Springs - Garage doors typically use a pair of torsion springs: one wound left (sometimes with red cone).
